The implications of the new Energy Performance
of Buildings Directive (EPBD) which starts to come into effect on
January 1 of next year will be one of the topics to be addressed at
a series of Autumn Seminars organised by IPAV.
Buildings give rise to about 45% of energy related
CO2 emissions in Ireland. The new Directive will mean that when a
building is constructed, sold or rented, the owner must provide a
Building Energy Rating (BER) Certificate to the prospective buyer
or tenant. It is proposed to phase in the mandatory elements in three
steps, beginning on January 1.
Paula Rice, Programme Manager with Sustainable
Energy Ireland (SEI) will outline the implications of the Directive
at three seminars.
The seminars will also hear a presentation from
barrister Ruth Cannon on commercial lettings and related issues
Both speakers along with IPAV President Sean Mason
and Chief Executive Officer Fintan McNamara will answer questions
from members at each seminar.
The Seminars will take place in:
• UCD (October 16)
• Cork Institute of Technology (October 23)
• Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Galway (November 6)
