The Course: This short course is designed to reflect the significant changes that have taken place in the market over the last number of years. It is aimed at those who are involved in the business as Property Managing Agents, Letting Agents and Property Professionals to make them aware of the dramatic changes in law and practice that may have a profound effect on their day to day activity. The course will commence on Monday October 6 and will conclude on Monday November 24th 2008. All lectures will run from 7.30pm – 9.00pm. Course Content The course will cover the following areas: 1. The Residential Tenancies Act: There will be three sessions on this significant piece of legislation. The sessions will deal with the main provisions of the act and their implications for the professional practitioner. 2. Operation of the Private Residential Tenancies Board (PRTB): This session will cover the main activities of the board – its brief and operation and the significance for the professional practitioner. 3. Taxation Issues: This session will focus on the current treatment of investment property and the legislative changes to revenue audits etc. 4. Commercial Lettings: A session that will deal with significant changes in practice and procedure in the commercial sector in the context of changes in legislation. 5. Communication and Marketing & the BER: This session will deal with best practice in the sector. Venue: The course will be delivered in the offices of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers at 129 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2. It is a very convenient location, three minutes from St Stephens Green, with on street car parking available after 1900 hours. Certification: Certificates will be presented to successful participants and the course will confer 4 CPD (Continuous Professional Development) points to IPAV members.
