Diploma in The Fine & Decorative Arts
An educational compact two day Fine and Decorative Arts Diploma Course. The aim of this course is to give a modern approach introducing different topics enabling the fine art student to have a wider vision of the Arts and Ancillary Arts.
The main subjects on the course include the history of painting, domestic architecture, interior decoration, furniture, silver, sculpture and the history of costume. There will also be an lecturers on topics such as interior design – the role antiques play in the decoration of the home, and the history of the garden.
Modernism - Art and Design of the Early 20th Century
The Modern Movement completely reshaped the basis of art, design and even culture in the early 20th century and remains the starting point for understanding the art of today. This is a 10 week course taking place on Wednesdays from 10am to 3.30pm.
French Connections - For so long the leader in painting, architecture, fashion and taste, the traditions and innovations of French visual culture remain inexhaustibly rich. Rather than reintroducing the familiar outlines of this history however, this 10-week lecture series will concentrate in detail on specific highlights of French visual art, with a focus on the 18th and 19th centuries. This course is taking place on Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm to 9.30pm
For a small country, far from the centre of Europe, Scotland – like Ireland – has achieved a powerful and enduring reputation in the arts. This new series from IPAV will cover a diversity of aspects of Scottish art, architecture and history, from the period of its prominent role in the European enlightenment to its continued cultured distinctiveness today. This is a 16 week course taking place on Monday evenings from 6.30pm to 9.30pm
