Pat Davitt founded Davitt & Davitt Auctioneers now known as Davitt Davitt & Partners trading as Sherry FitzGerald Davitt and Davitt Auctioneers in Castlepollard, Co Westmeath in 1980.

Pat became a Member of IPAV in 1980, was elected to Council 1983 and became a Fellow in 1987. He served as President from 1987 to 1989 and from 2002 to 2003. Now in his current position as IPAV's CEO, Pat oversees the Educational and Industry requirements of IPAV’s 1,100 members and manages the Institute’s daily affairs.

Established for the purpose of raising the standard of professional real estate practice, IPAV has exchanged Memorandum of Understandings with the following bodies:

All IPAV members must abide by the Code of Conduct and its corresponding Disciplinary Procedure Regulations as laid down in IPAV's Memorandum & Articles of Association.

Members of the public or fellow professionals, who believe an IPAV member has contravened this Code, can submit a signed formal letter of complaint to IPAV.

IPAV's Code of Conduct forms an integral part of the conditions of Membership of the Institute. It provides the framework for the professional standards and compliance IPAV Members are expected to demonstrate in their professional lives.

All IPAV Members must abide by the Code and its corresponding Disciplinary Procedures.

IPAV Young Professionals Network

IPAV’s Council is deemed for all purposes to be the governing body of the Institute.  Council members are elected at the Institute’s Annual General Meeting.

Council is represented by 20 serving Members throughout Ireland and is supported by an Executive Council, consisting of IPAV's President, Snr. Vice President, Jnr. Vice President and CEO of the Institute.

Expert Committees are appointed to advise, monitor and recommend to Council policies and procedures considered material to the Institute and the profession.
