Smith Property is a fast-growing, multi-disciplinary property agency providing sales, lettings, property management, valuation, and advisory services across the North East. With a growing portfolio and client base, we are entering an exciting phase of expansion.

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial operations and support business growth. This is a senior leadership role working closely with the Managing Director, combining financial control, property accounting, and operational oversight.

 

 

The ideal candidate would have:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
  • 3+ years post-qualification experience
  • Strong property management accounting experience (essential)
  • Knowledge of PSRA compliance and client account management
  • Strong commercial, analytical, and leadership skills
  • Experience in SME or property-related environment preferred

The Key Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
  • Deliver KPI reporting and financial insights to support decision-making
  • Oversee client accounts in line with PSRA regulations
  • Manage trust accounts, rent reconciliation, and service charge accounting
  • Lead year-end processes and liaise with auditors
  • Improve financial systems, reporting, and operational processes
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and Revenue compliance (VAT/PAYE)
  • Support pricing, commissions, and business growth initiatives
