Smith Property is a fast-growing, multi-disciplinary property agency providing sales, lettings, property management, valuation, and advisory services across the North East. With a growing portfolio and client base, we are entering an exciting phase of expansion.
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial operations and support business growth. This is a senior leadership role working closely with the Managing Director, combining financial control, property accounting, and operational oversight.
The ideal candidate would have:
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
- 3+ years post-qualification experience
- Strong property management accounting experience (essential)
- Knowledge of PSRA compliance and client account management
- Strong commercial, analytical, and leadership skills
- Experience in SME or property-related environment preferred
The Key Responsibilities include:
- Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
- Deliver KPI reporting and financial insights to support decision-making
- Oversee client accounts in line with PSRA regulations
- Manage trust accounts, rent reconciliation, and service charge accounting
- Lead year-end processes and liaise with auditors
- Improve financial systems, reporting, and operational processes
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and Revenue compliance (VAT/PAYE)
- Support pricing, commissions, and business growth initiatives
